Handcrafted Extendable Dining Tables

Extendable Dining Tables bring the grain, color, and natural variation of real wood into the center of the dining space. Wood species, edge profile, base design, and finish all contribute to the final look. Explore our broader solid wood dining tables collection to compare additional shapes, materials, and styles.

Choosing the Right Size, Shape, and Seating

Start with the dimensions of your dining area and the number of people you seat most often. Allow enough clearance around the table for chairs to pull out comfortably and for people to move through the room. The table base also affects usable seating, especially near the ends and corners, so review each design's dimensions and base placement rather than relying on tabletop size alone.

Wood, Finish, and Custom Table Options

Choosing the wood and finish lets you shape the table's overall character, from lighter natural looks to deeper, richer tones. Available options vary by design. If you need a particular dimension, base, wood, or detail beyond the listed choices, explore custom wood furniture and our wood types and finish options.

Beyond appearance, think about how the table will function on ordinary days as well as holidays and larger gatherings. A table that works well in the room should balance seating capacity with comfortable circulation around the perimeter. If you frequently host, look closely at extendable options and how leaves are added or stored. For fixed tables, consider whether the chosen length will still feel proportional when fewer people are seated. Because handcrafted wood varies naturally, grain patterns, knots, color shifts, and other character marks can make each finished table distinctive.

The collection focuses on real wood construction, with available wood species varying by individual design. Check each product page for the exact materials and options offered.

Many designs offer choices such as wood species, finish, dimensions, or other details. Available customization varies by product, and more specific requests can be handled through custom wood furniture.

Wood choices vary by design and may include options such as walnut, maple, oak, hickory, cherry, reclaimed wood, and other hardwoods. The individual product page is the best source for the exact choices available.

Measure the complete available area rather than focusing only on the tabletop dimensions. Account for surrounding furniture, doors, walkways, and comfortable clearance.

Plan for roughly 36 inches between the table edge and walls or other furniture so chairs can pull out comfortably, and more along main walkways. With an extendable table, measure for the fully extended length as well as the everyday size.

Consider seating and style together. Trestle and pedestal bases tend to leave more legroom at the ends and sides, while four-leg designs place legs at the corners. Review the base placement and dimensions on each product page, especially if you plan to seat guests at the ends when the table is extended.
